It’s official.
I’m truly unable to express my excitement. Right now I’m sitting in my appartment watching the aftermath on TV while I listen to students running down Broad St. As a journalism student I’m reminded of the everpresent mantra of “objectivity.” To all journalists who cannot appreciate how this election trumps the objectivity defense I say one thing.
Relax.
This is history. I’m not cracking my objectivity, I’m admitting excitement. That’s the real passion for journalism. We spend so much time trying to keep partisanship and bias out of our writings we lose the spark to be enthusiastic about what we do.
Journalists need to admit to their audiences, and to themselves, they get some personal investment when covering something as big as this election. We must face the truth. We are not perfect. We need to be transparent instead of cut-off objectivity-minded mouthpieces that do not have a voice.
I’m being transparent: Go Obama.

Hear, hear. Especially if Obama’s technology platform increases the transparency of, and citizen engagement with, the government which is serving us so poorly right now.
