What do you want out of online news?
As my last posts state: The Commuter has its own Facebook page. Now I realize the uptime isn’t even a week on this thing, but I’ve tried promoting it within the journalism department and the college network. On top of that we’ll be running a house ad in the next print issue of the paper.
All of this technology has me asking more questions than I get answered. What should we be doing online? Should the The Commuter turn into a reader-driven publication taking story ideas and feedback from the Facebook page and the official site? I’m leaning toward at assimilating this new content into our current model.
Overall I’m finding it difficult to keep branching out into new areas of interactivity, connectivity and reader reaction because there doesn’t seem to be enough return on the time investment.
Either way I’ll keep chugging along until the end of the semester.
