The Commuter recently added a Facebook page. We’ll be adding more admins and some standard content to the page. Hopefully the discussion board post I made on the Northampton network helps with traffic. We’ll also advertise in our next print issue and run a small brief on the site.
Speaking of the site, our Feb. issue just went live. There’s some decent stories, including one on students trying to cheat with the tutors, a look at the Bob Dylan biopic “I’m Not There” and a piece on snowmobiling in upstate NY.
As anyone who reads our print edition knows, the Web content is shoveled — we almost never run something as a “Web exclusive.” That’s going to change.
This semester’s Web journalism class is creating several packages of content that will only run on the site. We’re hoping to increase traffic and participation with dedicated online stories that are crafted to work better than a lengthy-but-interesting-campus-feature.
